Automation and AI · Ballito, South Africa
We build with what is now possible: systems made for your business instead of rented by the month, invoicing and admin that runs itself, and software that reads, writes and answers on your behalf. Faster, far cheaper to run, and yours.
Working with South African businesses, from a local service business to a licensed financial services firm.
In plain English
People hear the word and picture robots, or a plan to cut staff. In practice it is duller than that, and far more useful.
Automation is software doing the parts of a job that follow the same steps every single time. Reading a document and pulling out what matters. Answering the question you have already answered four hundred times. Moving the same information from one place to another. Writing the first draft of the letter you always write.
None of that is the skilled part of anybody's job. It is the part that keeps them at their desk after five.
A licence every month for a system where you use a fraction of what it does, and the part you actually need is the part it does badly.
A tool built around exactly how you work and nothing else. Yours, not rented, and running for a fraction of what the licence cost.
Month end. Invoices assembled by hand from three places, checked, sent one at a time, then chased two weeks later by someone who would rather not.
Issued on the first, with the figures already reconciled, and the polite follow up sent for you on the day it falls due.
A thirty page document lands in the inbox and somebody reads all of it to produce two pages the client will actually read.
Those two pages are drawn up in under a minute, in your own format. Your person checks and sends, which is the part that needs them.
A customer messages at eight in the evening asking about prices. By the time you reply in the morning they have booked somewhere else.
They get a proper answer in seconds and the booking is on your diary. You read what was said over coffee.
Why we exist
Something has genuinely changed in the last two years, and most of the market has not noticed yet.
Work that used to need a department, a bought-in system and a licence every month can now be built properly in weeks, and run for a fraction of what it used to cost. Not a cheaper version of the same thing. A better one, shaped around how your business actually works instead of how somebody else's software thinks it should.
The businesses acting on that are quietly getting faster, sharper and cheaper to run. Their competitors can see they are winning and cannot always see why.
That is why Luma exists. We build with the best of what is available now, we keep moving as it improves, and we bring it to businesses that would otherwise be the last to get it. You do not have to understand any of it. You need someone whose job it is to.
Where it usually starts
Three places we are asked for again and again, because they cost real money every month and everyone has quietly accepted them.
The system you are paying a monthly licence for probably does ten things and you use two. We build those two properly, around your business, and you stop paying rent on the other eight.
Invoices raised, priced and sent on the day they are due, with the figures already reconciled. Quotes out while the client is still interested. The follow up that everyone hates doing, done.
Contracts, schedules and reports read and turned into the summary or comparison you would have written. Customer questions answered on WhatsApp at midnight by Lumi, our assistant.
How we work
The order matters. Most automation disappoints because somebody tried to fix everything at once, on paper, before anyone had used anything.
A short conversation about what repeats. You usually know the answer before we do, because it is the thing you dread on a Monday.
Small and focused, doing that one job properly. You see it working on your own documents, not on a demonstration.
Your team tells us what is annoying and we change it. Then, if it has earned it, we look at the next thing.
How we handle your information
Some of our clients handle other people's personal information, a few of them in regulated industries. We treat that as the constraint the tool is designed around.
We are happy to take your compliance officer through any of it in detail.
Why Luma exists
I spent years working long hours and still feeling behind. Not because I was not working hard enough, but because manual admin was eating my time. Unnecessary, repetitive work that followed me home every night.
Then I had a son, and everything changed. I started looking for a way to stop bringing work home, and I found it. I taught myself to automate the admin, and for the first time I was actually present. At home. With my family. Not on my phone.
That is what Luma is built on. I am not selling software. I am handing on something I wish I had found sooner, and I would like every business owner stuck in the same grind to have it too.
